I’ve been watching Anthony Bourdain’s shows since I can remember time immemorial including Ewan Mcgregor’s shows since seeing him as a kid on Phantom Menace. I’ve also seen Adam Richman’s Man vs. Food and Andrew Zimmern’s various Food shows. I’m currently turning 21 and trying to be a motor-vehicle enthusiast whether its bikes or cars but mostly bikes, I was planning to buy a Yamaha YBR 125 lately but I’ve fell in love with the Honda CB-110 lately instead of the famous Rousers or Raiders/MIOs out there.
My main concern for buying a motorcycle is because of my nature, I am a 6 foot 220 lbs guy and travelling to school or nearby places via tricycle (non-special fare) is a burden on me. I also would like to use the Honda CB-110 for passenger use I mean for my brother as well when going to places especially school we are of similar build and weight can a Honda CB-110 help us meet our needs? or should we look toward biggers bikes? I tried the automatic MIO of my uncle and it would skid on humps and when I make turns because of my heavy build.
Currently the Yamaha YBR 125 is out of stock and being phased out according to various dealers near my area. I loved the Honda CB-110 because it is a good motorcycle for new users (newbs) like myself and economy friendly on the fuel. It is also dirt cheap compared to others motorcycles and I do not mind the low power of the engine since I am just a student. I am saving up for a one time cash payment so I want advice and tips if given any 🙂
Hey bro,
thanks for visiting the Pinoy Adventure Rider blog. I love the CB110 but I was thinking about your height of 6 foot and 220 lbs. I think you will not fit well in the CB110. Your legs will be cramped and the power will not be enough for you and a passenger. Another PAR member, Ronald Chua is also a tall guy and after a year, he sold the CB110.
I may suggest the new YAMAHA SZ-R 153 cc with also a dirt cheap price of Php 67k [not very sure, i just got this price from other blogs]. It is worth a look. This bike also has a big tank and was already tested by PINOY RIDER Erik on long rides.
Cheers!
Thank you so much for the suggestion, I will go look it up on my nearest dealer and yes I’ve been wondering about the CB-110 because they said tall and big riders will have an issue with the frame of the bike due to the added panels on the gas tank. If you know any motorcycles than is less than 70k one time cash payment please do let me know with the consideration of me and my brothers combined weight 🙂
I am also looking at the big brother of the Honda CB110. The Honda Unicorn Dazzler 150cc. I have been waiting for this bike to be readily available at any Honda Outlet. I have heard, you can get this at Caloocan for straight cash.
But if the Yamaha YBR 125 is still available should I pursue it? the replacement model of the Yamaha YBR 125 is the Yamaha FZ16 is that big enough for me and my brother? I am out for practical and economical use since I am just a student I am well aware that I do not have the luxury of buying power and design on a motorcycle.
It’s SZ16 I think or is it really FZ16 I’m not quite sure 😀
yup its SZ16 but im seeing an SZ-R. Maybe this is an upgraded version. The YBR is strong but it looks like a workhorse bike.
if you really like the YBR, you can go for it. I saw a tricked out YBR and it also looks good. But you will need additional cash for the upgrades.
Can you help me weigh the pros and cons of one time cash payment with the 2 or 3 year installment plan? 😛
Hi.
If you can cash it, that is the best.
If you cant, you can go for 2 years. Easy on the wallet. Your Php 65,000 bike can go up to Php 88,000 in 2 years and even more for 3 years.
Cheers!
